Unexplainable Things

When I went to high school, I was lucky enough to have gone to a boarding school
This school was located in the beautiful, Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina
When I was a teen, just like most, I did not want to obey the rules
When it came to rules, I would snub at them and say, " Oh well! Tra-la-la.

One of the main things I did, was to sneak off campus, which was totally taboo
But I was smart, because the whole time, I never got caught
On my route of escape, I would have to go past a little white church, which under the cover of darkness, I was always hidden from view
No one ever missed me, because to my knowledge, I was never sought.

Each time I came close to this place, I could feel the chills as they made their way up my spine
Under the cover of darkness, there was nothing I could see
I always felt like I was being watched, to real for this to have just been in my mind
At times like this, the only thing that entered my mind, was what I could do, so faster, I could flee.

Most of the time, when I bravely made this journey, I was totally alone
But when I came upon the church, I just couldn't get away fast enough
One night in particular, beside the little church, I thought I heard someone or something moan
Always being inquisitive, I just had to see if I could find the source, I always asked for more than was enough.

The church, complete with a grave yard, this place has been here, I know at least for a couple hundred years
Under the soft moonlight, one could imagine just about anything
Things I could not explain would fill my entire being with intense fear
Imagining all kinds of things, to which I did not want to cling.

My old school, remains no more, being torn down, for something better
But the old church, it still stands, on what I call hallowed ground
When school was here, I have no idea, from whence these strange things would stir
But also, people that live here, have told of unexplainable sights and sounds.

The things that stirs the minds of mischief making kids.
