The twelve days of Christmas
On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
A dear john letter saying our love isn’t meant to be
On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me
A picture torn in two, saying she’s happy now she’s free
On the third day of Christmas, my ring came through the door
In an envelope I found it laying, right there on the floor
On the fourth day of Christmas, my clothes arrived in a sack
Attached was a note saying, James please don’t come back
On the fifth day of Christmas, my heart just broke in two
What about my kids I thought, whatever would they do
On the sixth day of Christmas, I broke down and cried
This joyful time of year, I was going to be denied
On the seventh day of Christmas, I thought it was the end
Then from heaven above, an angel did descend
On the eighth day of Christmas, wise words she spoke out loud
Christmas time is for everyone, not in darkness to be shroud
On the ninth day of Christmas, her light was shone on me
Do not worry James she said, life is rich you’ll see
On the tenth day of Christmas, her words hit me in my heart
A new journey to be taken, a new life I had to start
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my journey started anew
Gifts I would bear for all, not just a chosen few
On the twelfth day of Christmas, kids I joined in merriment and uproar
For the greatest gift I passed out, was my love for ever more
James Brown
